Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Softgen (“we”, “us”) handles personal data collected through https://softgen.co.uk. The data controller is the company named in our terms. We're committed to handling your data lawfully, fairly and transparently under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

We collect what you give us, and a record of how the site is used:

• Project briefs & enquiries: your name, email, company (optional) and the message you send via our forms or by email.
• Analytics: the pages viewed, time on page and how far down they were read, clicks, questions opened, form submissions and page-speed measurements, each with the time, the referring website, search engine or AI assistant, your IP address and the network it belongs to, approximate location (city and country, from the IP address), browser, device, language and screen size, and a random visitor identifier kept in a cookie. We record this with our own analytics service and with Google Analytics, to understand which pages help visitors and to improve the site. We never sell it.

How we use it

• To respond to your enquiry and prepare a plan, price and timeline.
• To communicate with you about a potential or active project.
• To improve our website and services.

Our legal basis is your consent when you submit a form, and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted processors to run the site and respond to you:

• Email delivery (Amazon Web Services, EU – Ireland) — to send and receive enquiry emails.
• Hosting (e.g. Railway) — to serve the website.
• Analytics (Cloudflare, which hosts our own analytics service; Google, for Google Analytics).

We never sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to respond and, where relevant, for the duration of a project plus a reasonable period for our records. You can ask us to delete it sooner. Analytics records of visits are kept for as long as they help us run the site (records of automated traffic are deleted after 90 days); Google Analytics keeps its data for 14 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data, and to object or request portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@softgen.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
